AOD-9604: hGH Fragment for Lipolysis
The 176-191 fragment of growth hormone: it retains hGH's lipolytic action but not its effects on glucose or IGF-1. What the evidence says.
What AOD-9604 is
AOD-9604 ("Anti-Obesity Drug") is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (amino acids 176-191), with an added tyrosine for stability. It was developed by Metabolic Pharmaceuticals precisely to isolate the fat-burning effect of hGH.
Lipolytic mechanism
Full hGH mobilizes fat but also raises glucose and IGF-1. AOD-9604 retains lipolysis (it stimulates fat breakdown) and inhibits lipogenesis โ according to the evidence, via the ฮฒ3-adrenergic pathway โ without meaningfully affecting glucose or IGF-1 in the models studied.
Published studies
The Metabolic Pharmaceuticals trials (oral formulation) showed a good safety profile, but modest weight-loss results that were not consistently superior to placebo in humans. The lipolytic signal is clearer in preclinical models.
Dose ranges in research
The protocol literature used daily SC doses in micrograms, frequently in a fasted state. Descriptive context, not a clinical recommendation. In fat-loss research it is usually positioned as an adjunct, not as a primary agent relative to incretin agonists.
